Fabric Whisperer

Got a closet full of fabrics you don't know what to do with? This class reveals techniques to manipulate that fabric to texturize it and make it new again. Barbara will demonstrate the world of texture magic to transform the old everyday fabric into a new fashion idea using the sewing machine, steam, even barbed tools. There are two techniques – one to make it completely texturized into shapes and the other that texturizes and creates elasticity in the fabric. You can manipulate anything from cotton, silks to pleather, sweatshirts, old jeans and the list goes on. These techniques will open up a new world for your crafts, fashions and upcycling projects.

Easy & Fun Feathers of a Different Color

Hands-on lecture
Students will be introduced to all different styles of feathers commonly used in quilting today first then they will be presented with wide variety of feathers on the cutting edge and learn the quilting design basics. Irena will present beautiful and unique feather selection to choose from. The best thing about them-they are easy to stitch. No backtracking, period.
If you are ready to change your quilting style and wish to impress your customers and the judges, it's time to use Feathers of a different Color! It will be very interesting hands on experience where students will gain confidence, be inspired and encouraged to develop their own style. The workbook is standalone class in of itself.

Become a Brilliant Binder

Perfect bindings every time. Learn perfect mitered corners and no fuss, smooth end seams with Debbie's Brilliant Bindings© tool and technique. Instruction also includes steps for making continuous straight-of-grain and bias binding. The final process of stitching the binding to the back will be shown by hand and machine. Binding samples will be made in class to use for future reference along with a completely bound "brag book" incorporating all steps.
Kit includes: Includes all fabric, batting, backing (pre-quilted by Debbie for your convenience), binding, thread, needle, "brag book", cover pattern, Brilliant Bindings© tool and instructions.

This is a Nancy Murty design. She designed this wonderful little poppy quilt as a cute wallhanging. We will use fusible web to complete this project quickly. We use The Applique Pressing Sheet, light fusible web and Hoffman batiks to complete this stunning quilt. This is an easy no sew method that will teach you the basics along with quick tips to complete your projects. Learn why some fabrics are better than others and learn why we use the tools we do to make your raw edge quilts fabulous.

The Hands On Hand Dyes dye kit gives you all of the tools, fabric, dye, chemicals and instructions that you will need to make beautiful hand dyed fabrics in just a few hours. With this fast, fun and affordable dye method, you will learn to mix color and create your own full spectrum, color wheel pallet. You also learn to create a light, medium and dark value of each of those 12 colors. You will dye 36 fat quarters (9 yards) in four hours. The fabric that is included in your kit is high quality cotton, perfect to use for your upcoming classes. Choose from three Color Collections: Gardens, Playgrounds, or Mountains.
Your Hands On Hand Dyes kit contains 9 yards of high quality "pfd" fabric, dye and chemicals, dye tubs, measuring spoons and cups, mixing jars, dust mask, gloves and dyers detergent. Students bring craft scissors (not good ones), pen (for notes), two 23 ¼" x 17" x 6" (28 qt) tubs and lids (They cost apx. $5 from discount stores.), two clear sheet protectors (optional, to protect instructions sheets). Wear art and paint clothes as well as comfortable shoes.

Intro To Square in a Square

The Square in a Square system is a fast and accurate way to make fantastic quilts without ever having to cut or sew triangles. Within the system are 39 different triangle units or options. Using these options, you can make half square triangles four at a time, flying geese two at a time, 60 degree diamond triangle units and much more. The resulting points are sharp, lie very flat and are easy to achieve. The technique provides the quilter with the ability to construct increasing complex patterns. This cutting system is so simple and accurate that quilters everywhere will be producing more quilts and enjoying it more! Come relax for a few minutes and let your mind consider the possibilities as you see how easily results are achieved!

You like hand embroidery but your stitches look wonky? Well, wobble no more! Using garden-variety stencils creatively, Sherrill will show you how to mark your fabric to make near-perfect stitches, which makes you a happier stitcher. You'll learn to draft your own pattern pieces to modify a frumpy sweatshirt! We will go from sloppy joes to Trim n' Fit in an afternoon, creating fitted shoulders, zipper fronts, stand up collars, set in pockets and of course curve appeal for a shape that compliments your figure. In the process we will shave off a few pounds! Putting in a separating laser mirror zipper is easier than you think. You will also be working with wire mesh and/or rhinestones to create a truly contemporary classic fit, with a little bling! Kit fee will be paid directly to instructor before class.

Hands-on design drawing
Learn how to create perfectly matching designs for blocks, borders and sashings treatments. This hands-on experience should give you enough confidence in handling just about any quilting challenge after you acquire the knowledge and understanding of the basic design concept.
If you are tired of looking for the most appropriate designs to match your quilt theme, just create your own quilting designs on as needed basis. Most designs would not require any marking. You will learn how to handle both design possibilities so you won't feel challenged with any quilting job. After Irena breaks down the entire process into some easy to follow steps, the rest will be falling in place.
